Emotion Before Logic
Feel then think.
Make them feel something before you make them think something. Emotion is what opens the door. Logic is what keeps them inside. If you lead with data, you're knocking on a door that hasn't been unlocked yet.
Why This Works
Neuroscientist Antonio Damasio proved that emotion isn't the enemy of rational decision-making — it's a prerequisite. The brain uses emotional signals to determine what's worth analyzing rationally. Lead with logic, and the brain never flags your message as worth processing deeply.
In Your Ads
Check your hook. If it's a statistic, a feature, or a logical argument, you've lost the opening. Start with the feeling: frustration, aspiration, fear of falling behind. Once emotion opens the gate, your data and logic walk right through. "You're leaving money on the table" is logic. "Your competitors are eating your lunch while you guess" is emotion.
When This Breaks
Your ad opens with "Studies show that creative testing improves ROAS by 34%" and the viewer's eyes glaze over. Factually correct. Emotionally dead.
