Make them feel the discomfort before you offer the way out. Relief without prior tension is meaningless — it's a solution to a problem nobody felt. Build the pressure first, and the release becomes irresistible.
Why This Works
Behavioral scientists call this hedonic contrast — the brain measures pleasure relative to the pain that preceded it. A cold glass of water means nothing in an air-conditioned room. After an hour in the heat, it's euphoric. The same principle governs how your audience experiences your offer.
In Your Ads
Most ads break this law by leading with the benefit. "Get 10x more leads!" But without showing the tension first — the hours wasted, the budget burned, the campaigns that flopped — the promise lands flat. The fix: start with what's broken. Then reveal the way out.
When This Breaks
Your ad opens with "Introducing the easiest way to scale your ads" and the viewer feels nothing because they haven't been reminded why scaling is hard.
Example
