Laws of Persuasion Physics
Specificity Before Explanation
Show the concrete thing before explaining the theory.
Show the concrete thing before you explain the theory behind it. When viewers see a specific detail first, the explanation that follows has something to stick to. Abstract first, and their brain is still looking for a reason to care.
Why This Works
The brain processes concrete information faster and with less effort than abstract concepts. Neuroscientists call this grounded cognition — we understand ideas by anchoring them to sensory experience. A specific number, image, or scenario gives the abstract explanation a place to live.
In Your Ads
Lead with the specific. "She went from 12 clients to 147 in 90 days" works. "Our growth framework delivers results" doesn't. Once the specific lands, you've earned the right to explain why. Before that, explanation is just noise.
When This Breaks
You open with "Our proprietary methodology leverages behavioral science to..." and the viewer is gone before you get to the part that would have actually interested them.
Example
Before: "We use AI to optimize your creative." After: "This ad generated $47K last month. Here's the one thing we changed."
