False Urgency
Manufactured scarcity that feels fake.
Your ad manufactured a deadline that doesn't exist. "Limited time only!" "Only 3 spots left!" The viewer can smell fake scarcity from a mile away. Artificial urgency doesn't create action — it creates distrust.
Why This Works
Real urgency works because it triggers loss aversion — a genuine constraint on access. False urgency fails because modern consumers are trained to recognize it. The moment they detect manufactured pressure, your credibility collapses. Every future claim becomes suspect.
In Your Ads
Audit every urgency signal. Is the deadline real? Is the scarcity genuine? If you're creating urgency out of nothing, remove it entirely. Replace it with real constraints: actual capacity limits, genuine seasonal relevance, or natural consequences of delayed action.
When This Breaks
Your ad says "Offer ends tonight!" but the same offer is running next week. The viewer clicked once before and saw the same countdown. Your urgency mechanism is permanently broken for this audience.
Example
"Only 5 spots left! Sign up before midnight!" → "We onboard 10 brands per month because each one gets a dedicated strategist. January is full. February has 3 openings."
