Value & Proof Techniques
Feature Breakdown
Converts abstract value into concrete understanding. The brain assigns more value to things it can specifically visualize.
A feature breakdown translates abstract product capabilities into concrete understanding. Instead of listing what a product does, it shows what each capability means in practice. The brain assigns more value to things it can specifically visualize, so unpacking a feature into its real-world impact makes it tangible and desirable.
Why This Works
The brain evaluates value through concreteness. Abstract features ("AI-powered analytics") activate only language-processing circuits. Concrete explanations ("see exactly which 3 seconds of your competitor's ad drive 80% of conversions") activate visual and motor simulation. The concrete version creates a mental experience; the abstract version creates noise.
In Your Ads
Use feature breakdowns when you need to translate technical capability into felt benefit. Take each feature and ask: what does this let the viewer DO that they couldn't before? "Real-time creative analysis" becomes "know if your ad will convert before you spend a dollar on it."
When This Breaks
When the breakdown is still abstract or when you list features without translating them into outcomes, the technique adds words without adding value.
Example
"Our pattern engine doesn't just analyze your ad — it shows you the exact psychological trigger in each section and tells you which ones are missing."
When To Use It
Use Feature Breakdown when it's time to present your value, demonstrate your solution, or teach something useful. This technique transfers value from you to the viewer. It's where the promise becomes proof.
