How to Turn a Creative Brief into Campaign Ideas in 2026

A brief becomes campaign ideas when you force three territories, kill two, and lock a line that still obeys the landmines, before anyone asks for a film.

Published 26 August 2026

If you have searched:

  • turn a creative brief into campaign ideas
  • campaign ideation AI
  • AI campaign ideas for advertising agency
  • how to pick one campaign idea from three

You deserve a real answer, not a simplified one.

Key Takeaways

  • Circle the landmines before you ask for ideas.
  • Three named territories. Kill two. Lock the line.
  • First media has to travel on that line or the pick is wrong.
  • A montage in chat is not the next step. Keep the board. Cut later.

The brief is already on the table. Search will hand you a template for writing one, or a canvas that dumps ten ideas. Neither is the job.

The job is three territories a room can kill, one pick, and a line that still obeys the landmines in the PDF.

On 16 August 2026 we ran that on a subtractive sports drink brief. Wellness was banned. One shoot had to travel. What follows is the sequence, not a tour of the room.

Landmine, what we refused, what we locked.

Wellness language. Refused: calm, recovery, better-for-you. Locked: Moving up, not settling.

Local talent and vernacular. Refused: home-market faces, local slang. Locked: one shoot for Australia, New Zealand, and the US.

Montage in chat. Refused: a cut film on the first ask. Locked: the board. One continuous short shot. Cut later.

What you’ll need

One sitting from a PDF already on the table
  • A real PDF brief
  • The landmines circled before anyone asks for ideas
  • A room that will kill two of three territories

The workflow

  1. 1

Read the brief once. Circle the landmines.

Do this before you ask for ideas. On 16 August 2026 the PDF was a subtractive sports drink. Wellness language was banned. One shoot had to work in Australia, New Zealand, and the US. No local sport faces. No Australian vernacular. If a later card breaks those rules, it is not a territory. It is a reshoot.

  2. 2

Ask for three territories, not ten. Name them.

Three cards landed: Read The Label, The Upgrade, and Proven Is Hard. Names you can say out loud. Ten untitled routes is a dump. First wow is three cards you can reject, not a recap of the PDF.

  3. 3

Kill two. Say why. Lock the line.

They picked The Upgrade. The line was Moving up, not settling. The line has to survive the landmines. If it needs wellness language or a local face to work, kill it and pick again.

  4. 4

Make the first media obey the same landmines.

If it cannot travel, the pick is wrong. Three out of home pieces held: The Callup (YOU DIDN'T SETTLE. YOU MOVED UP.), The New Room (BETTER GOES WITH BETTER.), The Label as Trophy (THE SAME SCIENCE. NOTHING TO HIDE.). Same line. Same rules. Australia to the US without a second shoot.

  5. 5

If they ask for a film next, know the limit.

On 16 August 2026 they asked for a montage of film cuts in the chat. What landed was one continuous five or ten second shot. Keep the board. Cut later. A nine-frame board can hold the walk from dim locker to bright hall. The cut is not the idea.

Outcome

A brief becomes campaign ideas when you force three territories, kill two, and lock a line that still obeys the landmines, before anyone asks for a film.

You know it worked if two territories are dead, the line can travel, and nobody has asked for a film yet. Create a free workspace and start.

How we know this

Walked one session on 16 August 2026 from an uploaded sports-drink PDF. Named objects from the walk. The walk wins over internal notes. No hours. The 20 percent premium on the selected card is the brief judging criterion, not a Heista price.
