Hyro Ad Decoded — Direct Question Hook Analysis (15s)

Hyro's skit narrative ad is a 15-second health & supplements video creative decoded by Heista into 3 structural beats with 12 total cuts. Hyro's full brand intelligence

This leverages Direct Question Hook mechanics: the viewer is given a clear question (“are you playing?”) that creates an immediate mental task—answering it—so attention stays locked to the next line. It also uses Social Identity salience (the “you gay” address) to trigger self-relevance, increasing the chance the viewer keeps watching to resolve what the speaker is implying. Direct Question hook deep-dive

Beat 2 (0:00-0:04) — Direct Question Hook: It opens with a direct, answerable address/question: “Tell me, now you gay.” followed by “Chupotay, are you playing?” This forces the viewer into an immediate response mode—mentally deciding what the speaker means and whether the “are you playing?” question applies to them or someone they know.

Beat 3 (0:04-0:09) — Role Establishment: The speaker directly addresses “Chupotay” with two questions—“tell me, now you gay” and “are you playing?”—to establish who the other person is in the moment (a person being tested/queried) and what role they’re taking (either truthful or “playing”). This frames the interaction as an identity/intent check before any further explanation.

Beat 4 (0:09-0:14) — Comment Prompt: It ends by directly interrogating the viewer with two rhetorical questions: “Chupotay, tell me, now you gay.” and “Chupotay, are you playing?” This forces the viewer to mentally answer the prompt (and likely react), turning the final beat into an invitation to respond rather than passively watch.
